Change the world one conversation at a time

October 5th, 2007 by mike

It’s my new catch-phrase. I think we can change the world, one conversation at a time, by standing up for those who are not present or who cannot speak for themselves. We can turn a conversation from blame and gossip to a point of consideration for the mind of others, and I think we have a responsibility to do so.

I’m thinking that we’ll gather some people once a week or month to chat over coffee about how we can affect our little part of the world. Just an idea…

Also, I’m tinkering with the idea of petitions. Here’s my first, which petitions me to get off my bum and change the world.

    Hey Mate
On the weekend I saw a terrific interview with Richard Curtis. One of the quotable quotes was (I can’t remember it verbatim) “I hope that when a christian prays at night to relieve world poverty, that they get up in the morning & do something about it.”

Hey Ray - my first comment from someone I don’t already know. Thanks!

I have to say, that one conversation at a time is a long road, but it seems to be effective. Small things change, one person at a time, and the vibe is great.
